United Streaming

United Streaming is a great way to find educational, safe, grade appropriate videos. I don't know if any of you like or use it too. Because you can either watch the whole video or video segments I can show just the most relative parts. The one flaw I see is that many I use in biology are dated which is a death sentence for a teenage audience. Some of the videos have study guides that go along with them which I have used. I know the PBS videos are available online but are their other sources out there for science videos?

  1. I am not sure what topics you need, however, http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/programs/ is available to view online. I use United Streaming quite a bit. I think now it is associated with Discovery Education. I am surprised at the video clips it has. I find Math videos, I have used to teach respect and empathy. I think that technology in so many ways can also be a hindrance. Meaning, the information is so readily available and just as easily outdated.

  2. As much as I love unitedstreaming, some of the resources available are so outdated. I used a video last year in my class to emphasize a science concept, and after it was over my students asked me when it was created. I laughed, because it was produced in the 80s when I was born. Totally dating myself!
