Contradictions
Being the senior class advisor homecoming week means not working on Ed Tech 590. But its over and I don't have any excuses! Our school has been trying to stay technology smart that of course takes money and lots of it. Luckily we received a grant for some interactive whiteboards in some of the high school classrooms. I'm practicing on the job training, with students giving suggestions as I fumble. I call them guinea pigs when their class is the one I try my new interactive lesson plan. They do giggle but working with teens gives you thick skin. As a biology teacher I have been more of a hands on teacher, collecting pond water, taking students to the pond, going outdoors and doing real observing. So now I'm trying to learn how to use more technology in my class. My goal is to enhance our outdoors, hands on, real science by using technology.

I hear you! I am not a class advisor, but I am in charge of our yearbook, which means that I help with pictures when students are unavailable. Homecoming was last night; now I am trying to concentrate on the class. I have so many ideas, but I am having trouble getting everything concentrated!
ReplyDeleteFall's a tough time to take and complete a class, but I know you can do it. I'm looking forward to our presentations this week. Look for an email from me about a possible online session to make sure everyone has their questions answered.
ReplyDeleteMy 8 year old help me the other day with my ineractive board. She has been in a classroom with one for 3 years now so I feel pretty comfident in what she is doing. When I run into trouble the kids are very eager to help and 9 time out of ten they know what the problem is. But I am with you I am diffently a hands on person, but you have to be to teach the subjects that we both teach.
